Unimportant Appointments (A poem or a song, written by me)

I'm a no-one In a nowhere town Sitting with my book And my gas station coffee On a gazebo step At the library park. The cars and trucks whiz by They don't see me Even if they did Even if they know me They don't care. They're too busy Racing to nowhere To get to their Unimportant appointments With everyone Who doesn't really matter. The sky is gorgeous The rain clouds moved on The trees grew their shade For us to sit in To rush through To drink our coffee And read our books And race our vehicles To nowhere in a rush For our unimportant appointments. The church bells toll To remind us of the time They echo heartbreakingly Beautiful notes Chiming the time for us For anyone who cares to listen. Are you paying attention Do you even care Or are you busy rushing Whizzing by Do you hear Do you see Do you care? *I was told this song reminds someone of the song by Simon & Garfunkel - Homeward Bound

Ranting About My Bank

I should do something about the bank where my husband and I have accounts. I went there to cash a check for my youngest daughter (she signed it and I forgot to). I was asked if she had an account there, told them no. I told them that my husband and I both had an account there. They told me that we could have it cashed for a fee or take it to the other bank it was from (in the same town) to have them cash it. I was aghast that the fee would be $7.50, also that they would charge when we've cashed checks from out of state, with no explanation as to why, no offer to drop the fee if I signed too. We went to the other bank and were nicely told that it may have been because the check giver's info wasn't preprinted. They didn't charge us at all! I'll probably call our bank and talk to someone in management early next week about it. Interesting twist on it here...I have a friend who I mentioned to briefly about "ranting about my bank" that day and he asked "Wh...

Who Really Knows More?

It is of my opinion that the people who can say they realize that they don't know everything are actually much smarter than people who claim they know it all!

Omg that's my car!

My Missing Homeostasis

Date: 1926 : a relatively stable state of equilibrium or a tendency toward such a state between the different but interdependent elements or groups of elements of an organism, population, or group If you see my missing Homeostasis wander by, please lassoo it for me and send it my way....just sayin'. I used to have it, but lately it's become like that "bright elusive butterfly of love", sung by Bob Lind.

Are You Tuned In?

Like I promised, I'd cover past subjects. Ready? Taking it from the top! Brian's Job Change - He tried for 2 weeks to do what was asked of him at work. He was able to stay in the plant because he had been working on the plant side when he first started there. He later got into an opening in the Dimensional Lab, but because of plant downsizing, he was offered a position elsewhere in the plant recently. Turns out the pay was alot less but the work was much more demanding. It aggrevated his already high blood pressure and hurt his back and a problematic siatic (sp?) nerve. He had to opt for unemployment and so he sent in an application just yesterday. Of course that means our income is drastically reduced so we have to make major changes in how we do things. Also means he's home all the time. [If I didn't have extreme double vision (caused by major astigmatism in my left eye) and could drive again, I'd be out job hunting!] Brooke and Jim - Brooke suffered a freak dr...

Updates On Several Things!

Took care of an annoying situation with a stray kitten and got in a good walk on a nice day, all in one! I ended up at my parent's old place, which looks dramatically different. I'll have to take pictures next time I go down there. Their dilapidated house was torn down and burned, all that's left is rubble and a few old falling apart outbuildings. Not to mention my sister's sad looking horses and a disgusting hog. Quite depressing, but I'll be going back to look through some stored boxes to see if there's anything worth salvaging. I saw some crocheted blankets and crockware, which might help "un-depress" (did I just get to make up a new word?) me when I get them home and cleaned up to use. Also a slightly damaged exercise bike that was my mom's. Not sure where to put that, but I want it for exercising when the weather is bad outside. On the plus side, my niece's husband Billy was there and we discussed the current economic situation among other...

The Eyes Have It!

Not sure why that title came to mind, unless you take into account that I currently have an eye for the banner and am going to update it with a nicer sketch I did freehand. Lots going on in my life right now...when it rains, it pours! Family needs lots of help, hubby had a big job change. I built a website for a local cafe and have plans to make things representing an online store. More details to follow. Must run and take care of something that's annoying me to no end, but I'll return soon and give details for anyone interested to read them.

Valentine's Day and a New Commission!

I went with Brian to Ophelia's Cup this afternoon. We arrived between lunch and dinner times so we had some coffee and small desserts, then headed to Walmart to do some shopping. We returned for a romantic candlelit dinner and interesting conversation with the newish owner. I asked about the website that was down and she told us that the original owner had to remove it because of a problem with a new server. She seemed eager to get it back online, so I offered to help and received an enthusiastic response. I'll be communicating with her about various aspects such as designs, theme, promotional ideas I have, etc. Stay tuned for more details as they arrive!

Looking Forward (NOT New Year Resolutions)

The wind is whistling, big snowflakes rapidly descending, promising a gradual whitening ground. I fail to capture it on camera, the flakes are too quick and my know-how is elusive. I'm glad the holidays are finally over and the house is being organized, cleaned, plans for outside repairs are being made into a proposal for insurance reimbursement. I was too sick after Thanksgiving (with a bad cold or flu that lasted two weeks) to make things I had planned, mail out cards, shop. Good thing I could order things online, everything got here on time for gift exchanges, with one exception. I hope to have more time to concentrate on several things this year. I'll finally have some quiet time with the house to myself so I can hear myself think! Plans/Things I hope to accomplish this year: Apply for disability since I can't see correctly to drive and have been sick too often to work. Make appointments for an opthomologist and dentist. I've been recommended for lens replacement su...
